GENERAL PURPOSE

Reporting to the Controller, this position provides front-end support to the University. The Bursar will play a critical role in student enrollment and retention.


GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The selected candidate shall be expected to:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all University constituents;
  • Manage student financial services, including billing, refunds, receivables, collections, and cashiering functions of the University;
  • Manage front-end student account activities, including advising students and parents on payment plans and other financial resources and ensuring all students have a plan in place to pay for school;
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support student enrollment and retention efforts;
  • Maintain data and metrics on student financial service operations, as needed;
  • Support general accounting and cashiering functions of the Business Office and Finance Department;
  • Supervise the Business Office Coordinator;
  • Assist with major audits as required;

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Strong communication skills in both oral and written form;
  • Strong organization and coordination skills;
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;
  • Ability to multitask effectively;
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports;
  • Ability to solve problems and make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles;
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in the area of business, accounting, communication or a related field preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required;
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk;
