Lakeland University seeks a part-time campus counselor to provide direct clinical counseling services to university students, and outreach programming to the university campus community, including faculty and staff. The campus counselor will provide professional, time effective, mental health services for the Lakeland University campus community including: group counseling, workshops, individual therapy, telehealth, assessment, walk-in appointments, appropriate referrals, crisis services during office hours and some programming during evening hours.


The counselor will:

  • Complete necessary and required clinical and administrative documentation in a timely manner, consistent with professional standards and office expectations.
  • Provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding student concerns and other issues.
  • Provide presentations to various groups on campus on a variety of mental health topics.
  • Attend administrative, training, and clinical meetings.
  • Contribute to collaborations with relevant campus and community partners.
  • Conduct evaluations of counseling services; assist in research and data collection; prepare documents for the institution.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and in-service trainings, especially those that focus on issues pertaining to college students.

  • Master's Degree in a mental health discipline, and either full licensure as a professional counselor or clinical social worker, or a training license as an LPC (supervision provided.)
  • Experience with individual and group counseling.
  • Experience with crisis intervention.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.


  • College counseling experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience providing: group counseling; workshops; brief, time-effective therapy; telemental health, treatment for eating disorders, and assessment and brief intervention for substance abuse.
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical work, outreach, training, and wellness, and integration of developmental perspective in all of these endeavors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Dedication to working well in a team and the ability to build and maintain collegial relationships within and beyond the counseling department.
  • Ability to manage conflict and to communicate effectively during problem-solving.


  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • No or very limited physical effort is required.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
