POSITION PURPOSE 

This role is designed to be a role model and to exercise the mission of the department and the Residence Life Experience in all aspects. To attain this, this position will work diligently to manage/supervise the residence halls and the staff assigned to them. This position works to help students persist toward an undergraduate degree. Main focuses will be supporting the hall community, supervision of the halls, S/RA training, summer groups, programming, professional development opportunities and on-call rotation. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's Degree required;
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;
  • Ability to effectively manage time and priorities;
  • Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity;
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals;
  • Strong critical thinking skills;
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook) or similar products;
  • Demonstrates organizational ability, attention to detail, and accuracy;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, POSITION ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Serves as a critical leader in fostering a campus culture building on the LU tradition;
  • Prepare student learning objectives to assess all programming;
  • Communicate student activities using marketing, social media, publications, etc.;
  • Have a strong knowledge of our students and can effectively communicate with them via email, social media, in person, etc., regarding programming;
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff with regards to programming;
  • Attend events on campus to support and engage students;
  • Provide supervision for hall in which they reside and the 6-11 staff members in that area;
  • Assist with housing applications;
  • Assist with S/RA applications, interviews and training; 
  • Attend trainings as necessary;
  • Serve as a member to departmental committees;
  • Hear minor level conduct cases;
  • Provide insight and be willing to think outside of the box;
  • Participate in the on-call duty responsibilities;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • This is a live-on position.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average weight objects of up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day;
  • No or very little exposure to physical risk;
  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises;
  • Nights and weekends will be part of the job.
